A little about myself: I have extensive experience in long distance running. I worked as a high school cross country and track coach. I started when I was just 19 years old! I know all the ins and outs of increasing your speed and dropping your mile time!
But that’s not why you’re here is it? You could care less to run a 5K race… right? If so, that’s okay. If you are interested that’s cool too.
Truth is I fell out of love for the sport of running. Why? Because at some point, I was tired of the competition of it. All my weekends were spent long hours in the sun and I’d be so exhausted to do anything with friends after I got home. I also started to get annoyed with female athletes who would try about 1/3 of the amount that the males did. I was so disappointed in each group of girls that I had to work with year after year.
This is when I decided to stop coaching for a while. I had some extra free time and decided to join a gym for the first time ever.
That’s when everything CHANGED.
Unfortunately the first day I got all my fitness gear on and showed up I had no idea what to do! I stood there looking at all the machines and beautiful people…man there were some shredded dudes. Luckily, I have a boyfriend who showed me everything I need to know. Now I’m not saying I know everything there is to know.. I still constantly search the web and find workouts to try.
That is why I made Squat and Slay. I wanted to make a blog where I can share what I know and have other people share as well. My focus is on female fitness because I feel very passionate on helping women of all ages NOT to feel intimated to workout.
